Lunar and planetary construction technology firm SpaceFactory will relocate its headquarters from New York City to Huntsville, Alabama, according to the Alabama Department of Commerce
Aerospace and defense companies in Huntsville include Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon and many others.
Huntsville Madison County Chamber officials said that PlanetWorks Architecture, SpaceFactory's sister company, is designing the new facility, which should be complete in the summer of next year.
The state expects SpaceFactory's capital investment into its new Huntsville operation to be almost $2.2 million. In exchange for that level of spending and the creation of 25 jobs at an average hourly wage of $30.07, Alabama has offered the company job credits that should total approximately $549,000 over the life of the company's agreement.
SpaceFactory's current products include the ASTRA robotic 3D printer and the large-format additive system Starforge.
