Good morning stackers!
Happy Monday!
Sonata Arctica for this fine day.

I kinda hear Matt Bellamy of Muse, got that light and soft tone but with the clear ability to flip it up a notch.
reply
Ooh interesting. Muse is one of those bands I have heard in passing, would know the song, but not who did it, and never gave enough time to actually listen to... Added to the list.
Definitely hear the similarities in vocals though.

The voice is really similar to Tom Yorke but really nice
reply
I hadn't made the connection but I can hear it. Almost breathy/sleepy delivery.
I'm always drawn to the falsetto melodies with these guys.
reply
That's a good comparison, I got Bellamy from it, but I hear Yorke aswell now you mention it

Yaknow I almost went with snow today... But chose Sonata Arctica, as I've been going back over their old stuff.
RHCP are ace.

A month ago, I lost a friend. In the middle of the pain, my father recommended I listen to this song by Dream Theater. It's the most emotional song I've ever heard. I cry every time I listen to it. Enjoy!!!
reply
I'm sorry for your loss 🫡RIP. I know your pain, I struggle to listen to Alter Bridge - In Loving Memory, and Avenged Sevenfold - Nightmare, after losing a very close friend.
Your father had incredible taste in music, not a lot of people "get" dream theater, fantastic and really clever musicians. It's a beautiful song and a beautiful gift your father gave to you to remember him by, when the pain dulls, you'll listen to this with love and joyful memories.
Thinking of you and yours in this difficult time.

Thanks for those words, I hadn't heard " In Loving Memory", but A7X is one of my favorite bands... I lost count of how many times “So far away” has been played in my room these days at full volume. Thanks again.

It was one of those songs that I knew I would like within the first few seconds! It just has that sound, and the vocals don't disappoint either.

Marvin Gaye Live in Amsterdam 1976 was certainly the performance I watched most on YouTube
