I have a strong strong feeling that his landing place will one of two places either the Mets because I think it is safe to say they will not be outbid come hell or high water OR if he is willing to take less/have a different structure Boston. Soto grew up loving Boston because of the Dominican Republic stars they had. From Devers in the present time to Ortiz, Pedro, Manny, and others. Boston has deep deep roots in the DR and that could really paid off for them right now.
I think it will be the Mets. The Red Sox haven’t been players in the big FAs for years now. They got Story and re-signed Devers but weren’t in at all on Judge or Ohtani.

I just have a feeling with how deep the roots go for the Boston org that if Soto doesn't go all out on the Money Mets that Boston would fit esp. when I was reading about how he was a huge fan growing up and if Ortiz can make a pitch to him to play there.... hard to beat that!

Don't disagree but I would be surprised if the current Red Sox management gave him a 600M contract. Doesn't seem to be their strategy. I think they are building a pretty interesting team. They need pitching more than hitting but on the flip side if you can get one of the top 5 hitters in the game you probably go for it

I dont know if you have seen the same rumors I have that all 5 teams in the running have offered at least $600 mil so the floor was set there... I thought the contract would only run 12 maybe 13 years as he would go for the high AAV but I am reading they are all 15 year contracts which blows my mind

All these massive contracts will end up being disasters. 15 years?
reply
Yeah 15! Its through I want to say age 41 or 42 for him which the age isn't the worst thing but the length is what threw me because its so wild
