S.Korea is very much a monetary and military tribute state to the USA, and stands literally on the front line of the war that never ended between China and USA.
Now that China is attacking western allies via its military proxies and dependents Iran and Russia, S.Korea faces a challenging future.
After Taiwan, reunification of Korea would be a high priority for the rising Chinese super power.
China will never allow unification of Korea. North Korea is a buffer zone, a hill they will die on today like in 1951

China has an issue and that is NK and Russia getting so close. Even if Russia continues to fall apart over the invasion they can depend on each other to just barely keep going. Its been shown it is pushing China out and is believed to be one of the reasons why Chinese banks have started to shut down operations with Russia. They are using the idea of scared of sanctions but really its punishment for Russia going to NK and influencing them away from China.
China after all does want land returned by Russia

Who is China’s proxy?! Are you really going to claim Russia? The Houthis have hit more Chinese ships than Western. North Korea and China are not pleased because well North Korea is trying to break the bond with China and go toward Russia but it won't last.
I can only assume you are not aware of the reason for a Taiwan invasion… the ASML machines but well it is public knowledge they are rigged to blow via dead man switches it China invades thus erasing the one gain it could get.
You talked about US brute strength but then Korean unification? Approx 28.5k US soldiers in South Korea. How on Gods green earth do you think the North or China would attack and miss them since they are located at the critical sites?
China is collapsing because its population is already falling and they realllyyyy fucked up with 40+ years of one child. Cultural norms meant females were either killed, abandoned, or adopted into Western countries. You can't fix that stuff fast it will take several decades at least.
Also for better or worse if China, Russia, Iran, etc were so good people would immigrate there. They don't and its why we have people from India coming in via Canada and people from Africa and the Middle East coming in via Mexico. If your life was going to be hell you wouldn't risk your life and come but people continue to from all parts of the world and that should tell you something.

Russia is totally dependent upon China now- to buy its oil and gas and to supply it with manufactured goods it cannot produce itself.
Can you name any Chinese ships the Houthis have seriously damaged?
The Chinese are very serious about maintaining plausible deniability- they have learned from the CIA.
Microchip manufacturing is one reason for reunification with Taiwan no doubt but certainly not the only one. If as you claim the machinery self destructs upon invasion then the west loses that production too.
Note- steel works in the east of Ukraine supply 95% of the high purity neon gas required for the highest quality lasers used in microchip manufacture...
China is not collapsing- it has enjoyed decades of growing trade surpluses...something no western countries can claim.
Name one country that can afford not to trade with China without losing significant economic advantage- just one? SILENCE!
China has won the trade war- it pays more for commodities and converts them into manufactured goods more effectively and efficiently than the west can...and that advantage is not easy to reverse and will be impossible to reverse if China succeeds in reverse engineering the monetary hegemony that remains the last real strategic advantage of the already insolvent USA.
