We had a panel at Austin Bitcoin Club last night and @BitcoinPierre made the best argument I'd heard in favor of the Bitcoin reserve:
I'd rather be talking about this than an unrealized gains tax. In some sense the best defense is offense.

I hadnt even thought of that. That is true, though. If they do implement the bitcoin reserve, they will have to limit taxes on it.
