Gotta like someone, might as well be the Chiefs!
I don't see much likeable about them other than having the best player in the world.

They had the sense to pick him up when they had the chance, didn’t they? And he fits the team well, too.

They also had to the sense to pick up a bunch of players that beat women and children.
Mahomes is incredible. Andy Reid is a great coach but he doesn't care about the quality of character of his players as long as they win.

That is part of the game. Other teams are picking up people who like to shoot at and get shot at by other people. There are no winners in that game! Also, you can never tell who will be doing what, off the playing and practice fields.

Agreed and it never bothered me before I was a parent. I would say teams should put the best players on the field to win. My take is more nuanced now.
I guess what I will say is some teams do a better job than others accounting for player character and past actions.

As a parent, I can see what you are saying. You don’t want your kids to have “heroes” with feet of clay. There are a lot of problems like that, not only in sports, but in academia, military and everywhere else. It is difficult to tell what someone will do in the future that is unwise. It seems to me that the past is not always a good indicator of future situations (whether in markets or in life).
