gratitude certainly seems like a life hack to a better life
sadness comes from lack of options anxiety comes from many options but a lack of priorities
solve sadness with knowledge acquisition to increase options solve anxiety with a decision and priorities
escaping from sadness and anxiety is one of those things that leads many to addictions

Some substances physically change your brain. Chronic use of heroine can cause anhedonia, or the inability to feel pleasure. Sometimes permanently.
Could you imagine hugs from mom just dont feel the same? Food that satisfies hunger, but doesn't taste 'good'. Hot showers that just warm up the body, the skin is still numb.

Short answer: No! There are different types of addictions, good and bad. It depends on which ones we're talking about. Generally speaking, life is made up of vices. Addiction to walking, addiction to SN, etc.

Addiction feels less like not appreciating life and more like searching for something to fill the emptiness when life stops feeling enough.
