ok, this is handy info for @Roll - if it's print on demand, it means EU orders will be automatically fulfilled by local logistics hubs and there won't be import tax.
all the main POD companies have hubs in EU and US

This is an issue.
If I buy, I will probably use my business name and have it shipped to my wife's work. But my other hang up is how much it will cost to ship to Canada. Probably more than the hat itself.

what about if the SN merch was on amazon? or would you not buy it there just on principle alone? on the plus side, the seller wouldn't have any of your shipping info on amazon fulfilled orders

so basically, when you sell on amazon , you have 3 options (there's a 4th option for books, but I'll just mention physical items and apparel)
  1. merchant fulfilled - this is where you hold the stock and ship it to a customer directly. when you do this, you do indeed get the customer's name and address
  2. fulfilled by Amazon - this is what most people do and it's when you ship the stock to Amazon's warehouse/s and have them do all the logistics. this is how products become prime eligible generally and in this case, amazon shares no order data with the customer. amazon is very protective of customer data as they want to milk it themselves lol,
  3. If you sell using a print-on-demand model, you use a different amazon site called Amazon called Merch by amazon (not Seller Central). In this case, you upload image pngs to amazon and can select what merch it goes on. amazon then pays you a commission when a sale is made and does all the logistics, but you don't even see any customer info, and have no way to even contact any customer.
Here's all we see on the seller dash in Merch
then on the buyer side, you can see an item is merch by amazon. and if you see this, then you know the seller will never see any of your details
this is an example of one of the shirts I sell, you can see it says Merch on demand just under the title

AFAIK, PO Boxes are tied to your identity when you get one, at least in the US.
Could use a friend's address, but then you're looping them in. I've definitely considered it, though.
