Birthday photoshoots have become my favorite lately. Capturing the excitement and joy of people on such a special day is simply wonderful. Eighteen-year-old celebrations, in particular, hold a special significance for Venezuelans, marking such a significant milestone in life.
For this shoot, the birthday girl brought balloons and a delicious cake. I started by taking some wide shots with the balloons as the main focus, creating a birthday theme in the photographs.
I used my trusty Canon RP with a 50mm f/2.8 lens and a single light source: a Speedlite flash with a 50cm octabox, positioned at a 45-degree angle for soft, wrap-around lighting.
We took countless photos that day, but in this post, I'm only sharing my favorites!
Throughout the shoot, we experimented with different poses. I guided the birthday girl to get a wide variety of shots. It was a pleasure working with someone who grasped all the ideas perfectly.
The girl was accompanied by her mother and brother, so I also took photos with them:
And since she and her mother had a very close relationship, I took a couple of photos of them together:
Then we took more photos, but this time without balloons or cake, so the girl could pose more freely in front of the camera:
The final result was incredible. The birthday girl was thrilled with her photos, and I'm also very satisfied with the work done. I hope you enjoy these photos as much as we did!
