Is the SN search feature not very good or I am just too dumb to use it properly?

Or possibly a bit of both?

What were you searching for? Our search is not very good, but helps to have examples for where it sucks especially bad.

I was searching by the title of a post. I wanted to point out that something posted today was posted in Sports last week. I thought it would be easier to just copy paste the post title into the search bar rather than to search through 5 days of recent posts in the sports territory.

My initial result was nothing relating to what I was looking for but when I fiddled with the sort options I finally got it.

If you know the exact title, you can put it in quotation marks. Then it will try to find an exact match.

I searched the name of the post I wanted. I got everything but the post. However when I fiddled with the filters and sorted by comments I found it

Yes, you have to fiddle with the way it filters. I have come across that before. If you remember the exact phrase and use quotation marks, it works welll.
