I know we have bandwidth to burn these days but pictures also can't be unseen, especially moving pictures. I was getting quite fatigued by the visuals on Twitter. Please don't make this site hypervisual like everything else, or at least retain the old school text style if you add it.
reply
And so the hypervisuallization begins. Lol.

I think embedded gifs and pics are a net negative. They really kill the feel of the site. I haven't seen one been use well

101% agree
@k00b have you ever think about a fee to include external medias? I see two major benefits:
  1. User will include only valuable images because is disincentivated to waste sats.
  2. Links can broke "corrupting" the message, so the overall SN content value could lower in the time. With a fee you can think to fetch the media and replicate and preserve it on your hosting.
Just my 2 sats :)
reply
We had it so that adding links/images were more expensive previously. We changed it though. We can reintroduce it.
Perhaps the solution is to give users the option to not see images though, like they are hidden by default and have to be clicked to be revealed.

Two more ideas:
Images when they are valuable are a key point in a well formatted post. Perhaps they can be hidden by default and a fee could be applied to show them immediately.
Or always ask a payment and show them immediately but refund the fee when the post earn X sats, as a prove they are valuable.

I agree! Simplicity is always pleasing to the eye. SN is better than Twitter in my opinion.
reply
It's very minimalistic. Looks like an old school platform. Reminds me of internet in the 2000s :')

Agreed. Someone is taking this to the extreme kinda with Nostr btw. just thought i would share. https://alphaama.com/

100% agree.

I would say the best thing of SN is the community.
Lots of awesome people here.
reply
Agreed, should stay more or less this way while we explore what the community wants for additional features.
Baby steps.
reply
Yeah, I would love to see it get tags for topic searches.
reply
Yep, I agree that could enhance the experience. rn, a lot of repeat threads but all good...
Noticing more SN'ers replying to older threads recently, so the SN search is working well (I assume).
On that note, I also find it useful to track how certain projects are doing...
reply
Mostly, I click on interesting user profiles and see what they posted before. So that's how I end up reading and reacting to old content
... basically how I just did your profile as you may noticed in your notifications, haha
reply
oh yes, thanks dude... i'm still learning my way around...
but as mentioned before, awesome community :)
reply
@k00b is building an amazing product :)

(••) ( ••)>⌐■-■ (⌐■_■) Yeah
reply
Yeah but other social media is all about time on site to serve ads and visual media does that increases time on site and confuses you long enough to mistake ads and media as one thing and that drives their bottom line
Here its all about discussions so naturally people with something to say speak, and the rest STFU and learn from the banter
