Escaping Mediocrity I
In life, perhaps the hardest pill to swallow is the fact that not everyone can be exceptional; only select individuals can ever achieve resounding success.
For some, this news comes as a drag-down, being told that a big dream you hold so close to your heart might never turn out to be a reality and we might never be as “big” as we think we’ll be. No matter how you feel about this fact, it doesn’t change the reality: to be exceptional is a rarity.
But while not everyone can be stellar, it’s possible for almost all to escape mediocrity. And by mediocrity, I mean the state of inadequacy and unfulfilled potential, or rather just being an average potato.
If no one wants to be bang average, even those who are average, what are some reasons that most people find themselves settling for mediocrity?
1.Misplaced priorities and goals 2.Inefficiency and lack of a sense of urgency 3.Sacrificing top values for lower values 4.Lack of forethought, planning, and order 5.Having a low bar for yourself and others 6.Indecision and lack of firmness 7.Not learning from weaknesses, mistakes, and improving on your strengths 8.Lack of perseverance and strength of character 9.Associating with mediocrity 10.Lying to oneself
In Escaping Mediocrity II, I’ll share more on how I’ve witnessed the listed reasons lead to mediocrity both in myself and others. But more, it’ll share more about the root causes of why only a few escape mediocrity and what we can do ourselves to escape the true devil mediocrity is.
What in your experience are some of the reasons why most people remain mediocre? Is mediocrity a choice?

I would say the main reason is laziness because you are not optimistic about your future.
Mediocrity is a choice 90% of the time. There are a few people born with IQ under 95 who will be lucky to attain mediocrity
Your list is too abstract and too long. Each bullet should be short and pithy.

One of the truest things you've said is that many people lie to themselves, which doesn't let them leave their comfort zone, which doesn't make them grow and fight for their dreams. So, am I mediocre personally? It's a good question to ask yourself. I think that knowing yourself is a great challenge.
