I get this argument but didn't really want it to be the basis of this poll. The 49ers created 55M in cap space this year with a team littered with All pros and big contracts. They are among the best in the league at manipulating the cap. Of course there will be trade offs when you are paying a guy 50 plus million a year but I am not too concerned about their ability to manipulate the cap and structure the contract in a way that allows them to keep a top tier team.
It's hard for me to not interpret Purdy, through a Carr lens.
I think it's fair to both consider him a franchise QB and not pay him like an elite QB.

I agree with that but if you want to keep him you have to pay him at least in the range of an elite QB. I don't think the Cowboys should have given Dak 60M but that's the market.

The market adjusts though.
After Dak, Russ, Lawrence, Danny Dimes, that dipshit in Cleveland, Carr, Kyler, etc. I think teams are going to be less willing to through money at QB's.
We'll see, but if I'm SF, I'm thinking about telling Purdy that he's free to test the market and report back.
