I didn't know what to expect watching the Red One, unmoved by most Christmas movies, but then Scott Adams tweeted:
The movie Red One (Amazon Prime Video) is the best movie I have seen in years.
The writing is so inventive it blew me away.
Great Christmas movie for the whole family. Every scene is good. Amazing ending. Best visual effects maybe ever. Perfect casting. Funny, fast-paced, pure popcorn movie.
Congratulations to everyone involved. Masterpiece.
Scott has a sort of right-wing-occult energy that I find entertaining, so I thought I'd take his word for what's entertaining. Then, I saw Rotten Tomatoes had the telling critic/audience review disagreement.
Red One was basically a Christmas SciFi/Fantasy movie. Many recent Christmas movies have tried to modernize Santa, but I think Red One actually succeeded. The writers also did an excellent job making its characters fallible, limited, (fantastical) law abiding, and finite. Fiction, for me, fails when its writers do the opposite. It also wove in surrounding mythology really thoughtfully.
It's still not a Christmas movie I'd rewatch every year, but I enjoyed it a lot.
I give it five meat morsels on the k00bimeater.

Just tried this on Grok (twitter integration is surprisingly awesome- you can ask it to explain people's posts when they make cryptic messages/references).
Seems like Grok has a counting problem lol
Fell asleep through Red One (alcohol) but woke up and enjoyed Carry-On

added to family list of movies to watch. thanks for your review.
Yesterday I saw a movie called "Klaus" which is also Christmas-like and full of beautiful messages. It's about a postman who is a typical wealthy rich kid and has to start from scratch in a faraway place, full of hostile people but a place full of children who are the reason for starting Christmas in that area 🎄🎁 and the postman is a fundamental piece for everything to happen. We enjoyed it a lot, highly recommended to watch with the family.

I watched it, too. I was expecting a bit more, to tell you the truth. I was expecting a bit more from captain america. I thought the David Harbour one was better.
