The U.S. needs more energy for AI and must achieve net-zero emissions. But you will not get that with solar and win. And since gas is only half as bad as coal, its still very shity in CO2 per KwH overall.
Bureaucracy and fear is still a big hurdle for nuclear. Those are two very hard nuts to crack.
