As a homeowner, I'm very aware of how many scammers the contracting industry attracts. But I'm also aware of how many stupid regulations like this keep good people out of work and create barriers to people (especially poor ones) trying to make a living. There are fields where licensing and credentials have some actual purpose (I'd like to know that the guy operating on me really did go to med school), but not here.
