As Darth guides explain, before start a routing node it's important to determine the expectation and focus in the user case you want.

Some questions and words:

  • Do you want to run a routing node for profit or only experimentation? routing node != personal node.
  • Witch LN node implementation do you want? LND, CLN, Eclair, etc.
  • There are plenty of strategies to manage a routing node and a lot of second order chaos and game theory.
    • Change only fees to manage the flow.
    • Change min/max HTLC to be more effective.
    • Just sell channels (liquidity)
    • Be a LSP
  • TOR only node (I am running one) are difficult and in some way bad for the network, your best asset is connectivity/network performance and behind TOR you are 3 or 4 extra hops than normal clearnet connection
