Yup all Singaporean men have to serve two years of mandatory military service. It’s part and parcel of being a small nation

Well we were abandoned by the British during WWII. We were once part of Malaysia but that didn’t work out. Our population is too small to rely on people signing on with the military as their career
No mandatory conscription in Japan (as yet). The Self-Defense Forces are highly sought after
