After more than 2 years of the Lebanon Government being paralyzed a huge breakthrough has occurred with the election of a new President. This comes after 12 previously failed attempts over the years and hopefully will bring some sort of stability to the country.

What caused this dramatic breakthrough?! Israel. The absolute whooping that Hezbollah suffered after its strikes on Israel severely weakened its political strength even though it still has a large parliamentary presence and standing. While Army Chief Aoun will step down to take over the Presidency he is not only highly respected across the various religions and secs within his country but also is keen on enforcing U.N. Security Council’s Resolution 1701 which required Hezbollah to disarm and to move north of the river something that has not been done at all and led to the Israeli border invasion this year to clear it out.
