Ah fish oil, a must-have supplement, and no microplastics (probably ), but hold up , just over 3 or so months ago, I paid just under 40 pounds for 240 omega 3 caps from jarrow. as of today, the same product is now 83 pounds.
that's literally insane.
Have you guys been seeing anything similar? was santa stocking up before xmas?
I actually work with a supplement company and asked the CEO if there were any fish oil shortages or disasters that could have messed up the supply chain, but he said no.
is this just fiat doing fiat?
as a result, I've had to pick another brand AND bloody reduce from 2000-3000mgs per day, to just one capsule.
a double whammy of shrinkflation AND dilution.

fun fact, i generally choose Jarrow because of habit and because Peter Attia once mentioned that he gave all his patients Jarrow because he could verify the effects via blood tests.

i would take the liquid, but unfortunatley it causes an immediate vomit reaction and aftertaste for hours lol still remember when my nan gave me a spoon when i was a kid
reply
pff, pussy.
It's alright; just eat something strongly flavored after, and/or take with food anyway.
(but yes, I agree. Whenever I take too much, burps for hours later still smell like it lol)

I used to do this when force-feeding myself low-quality tuna in my bulking phase during my 20s lol

Would it be more cost effective to just eat more salmon w/ skin at this point? 😅
I always eat the skin. Delicious!
But no I don’t buy the fish oil supplement so haven’t noticed the price change myself here in LA
reply
i hope the skin is sauteed in Coke Zero lol
while i do enjoy salmon from time to time, it's so easy to pop down those capsules and they are highly filtered and have a super high dha ratio for brain health when shitposting on SN.
I'm a bit paranoid about the microplastic situation with fish
'Prevalence of microplastics was substantial; 77 % of all salmon and 25 % of all sand lance stomachs contained at least one microplastic'

Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose
reply
Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose is chemically modified cellulose obtained plants, sometimes used instead of gelatin
still not plastic

It's cellulose turned into plastic.

ok, handing this one over to gpt
How It Differs from Plastic:
Plastic (e.g., Polyethylene, PET): Made from petroleum-based polymers through a synthetic process. Non-biodegradable and insoluble in water. Can be melted and molded into shapes (thermoplastic properties).
HPMC: Derived from plants (renewable resource). Biodegradable and environmentally friendly. Does not share the chemical structure or durability of synthetic plastics.
Why HPMC Might Seem "Plasticky": When used in capsules or coatings, it can look and feel similar to plastic due to its smooth texture and flexibility. However, this resemblance is superficial because it lacks the environmental and structural downsides of synthetic plastics.
Yea I mean what has more plastic the capsules or actual fish? Cmon bruh.
And I can’t be the only one who likes Coke Zero
