It's good to prepare as though "something bad will happen."
But, once you're actually prepared, it's good to live "as though things will continue normally." You're ready to flip the switch when you have to right? So overthinking it just causes anxiety that weighs you down. You could sit and read philosophy if you wanted.
IMO, think about your work/vocation and start building up the skills you'll use regardless of how things go down. A lot of people spend all their time "preparing for disaster," only to wind up screwed over because they didn't prepare to actually live their lives!
