Horrible article. Blames global warming and corporate greed. (Did global warming cause LA to not take any mitigating measures? Did corporate greed cause it? Have corporations ever not been greedy?) Conflates cause and effect (insurance companies leaving the state is an effect of the crisis, not a cause). Blames tangentially related issues not directly related to current crisis (prison labor, Resnick water rights).

The writer is a fool and people like him are why California is in trouble. People who think like this person does will continue to elect people with vague promises of combatting climate change and corporate greed, while doing nothing on the ground to actually mitigate risks.
