I’m ENFP. Wild ideas just come to me.
For context, you have to read @grayruby’s post.
Something happened to me, which was breeding ground for this idea. siggy47 asked me to check the accuracy of an explanation of Satoshi Nakamoto given by a Japanese expert. So, I applied my Japanese language skills and did so. Yesterday, I found out that @metkram had done extensive research on the do’s and dont’s of running. I wanted to find out more, so I zapped him more than my default zap and requested him to share his knowledge. And he did!
*What if we can adopt something from LinkedIn? Have a field in the Settings page, in which we can type one area of specialisation ourselves. Peer recognition is important, so when we know that a Stacker is particularly knowledgeable in an area, we can go to his profile and type the niche for him.
Basically, self-declared expertise & peer-validated expertise.
I think the idea of cross-posting could be revisited. Perhaps some territory founders will like to pool their efforts and run a public awareness campaign or draw attention to an issue concurrently. For example, the founders of ~Music and ~HealthAndFitness could release a post on what music do you listen to when you work out? on their territories.
Meaning, @Undisciplined posts this question on ~HealthAndFitness and chooses it to appear on ~Music. This should lead to a lively and robust exchange of ideas.
I think some Stackers merely confine their posting efforts to one or two territories. If they don’t venture out and explore other territories, then other territories must be brought to the forefront of their minds.
My thinking is that people will stay longer on SN if they feel that they can make a unique contribution to the community. Collaborative posts tend to attract many comments, so newbies may be more inclined to speak up. I think it can be quite intimidating to put yourself out there, especially with assmilking posts being the rage these days. I mean, some people wear it like a badge of honour, but the more thin-skinned Stackers would feel a greater inertia to post and comment.
Sorry that I rushed this out. I need to fold my laundry and take two hungry kids out for breakfast. But you know, done is better than perfect.
I think you're right about the potential in getting new people to start speaking up, which will lead to new relationships developing in our little community. I've already noticed that I'm talking to a different group of people with ~HealthAndFitness than I had been.
I wonder if somehow your expertise idea could be rooted in the territories. For instance, @denlillaapan earns a ton in ~econ, so maybe that could give him an ~econ badge. I'm not sure exactly how that should work, but there might be something there. Maybe it could be the top 1% of stackers in each territory gets a badge.

What would an econ badge look like?
A dollar sign...? An upward graph?

Wouldn't a downward graph be more fitting?
Diminishing marginal utility is such a core concept and we are called "the dismal science".
Maybe they could just be sheriff badges with the territory name on them.

nice nice nice, love it

Clever! Anchor a new idea into existing process. Since we have the cowboy hat, horse and pistol. I will remember this customisation the next time a problem comes along

Myself and GR did a cross posting event for the Superbowl a " which Superbowl halftime artist has been your favourite" and it went pretty well... But effectively one territory had to host the post and the other link it. Cross posting between territories similar to the usage of #tags for example could be a really useful tool.

It would be cool if it was something that only popped up when you scrolled over their bio. Similar to how when you scroll over the amount of sats on a post it gives you a bit more info.
When you scroll over a bio it could mention the top 3 subjects the user comments on.

Oh definitely.
I think it fits in with the ‘stay humble’ ethos of Bitcoiners. Just stay low, do your own thing, ignore noise n provide value. Silent n stealthy
