By 2060, 1 million U.S. adults per year will develop dementia, scientists predict January 13 in Nature Medicine.
“This is a huge problem,” says Josef Coresh, an epidemiologist at New York University’s Grossman School of Medicine. A rise in the projected number of dementia cases is not surprising, given the aging U.S. population ­­— but the extent of the rise stands out, he says.
His team predicts that 42 percent of people in the United States who are over 55 years old will develop dementia sometime during their lifetime. That’s about double the percentage estimated by previous researchers.

I have to disagree with you but this statement is a little inaccurate. I am not denying that exercise and physical activities help the brain and body and reduce the risk of getting dementia (I somewhere read in a paper that being physically active reduces the risk up to 30-35% for dementia). But I don't think that people don't have to face dementia at all, as no matter what, if you have certain conditions like diabetes, chronic inflammation, even depression, etc., and of course age. It would be much better if you had said it reduces the risk to a certain level. Thanks.

However there are many studies in modern times that would verify my statement but I'd like to go with my personal experience on it.
You know I'm from India and it's a land of Yogis who have committed their lives to Yoga. I've never met an yogi, old or young, having any sort of lack of memory or the diseases you mentioned above. It's an evidence in itself how much Yoga is helpful to eradicate dementia or memory loss. I'd suggest you to try it and see by yourself.

Alzheimers/dementia is now known to be very strongly linked to sugar intake.

I have recently been exposed to some interesting information: nicotine is an aid for dementia, among many other problems in the brain.

Yes, I agree. Nicotine taken in as medicinal quantities would be beneficial in dementia and Alzimer or many other ailments.
Ayurveda has narrated the medicinal properties and usefulness of Nicotine very widely, however not the nicotine that tobacco has.
Tea also has nicotine but it's different and it has more medicinal benefits than its so called harms. Many people don't know that tomatoes and potatoes also have traces of Nicotine.
