The new indoor, simulation meets reality golf league TGL, is not off to a great start.
Last week's match was a snooze fest as the Bay Golf Club destroyed New York Golf Club 9-2. I am sure everyone involved with TGL was hoping for a better match this week as Tiger Woods' team Jupiter Links was poised to face off against the LA golf club. Not the case so far, after 10 holes the LA team is ahead 8-1 and even though it is possible for the Jupiter team to win every remaining hole and comeback it hardly seems likely. So for a second week in a row we have a match that was pretty much over after 4 or 5 holes.
I don't think viewers will be tuning in for the novelty much longer. These matches better get much more competitive and interesting or this league may not see a second season.
Sats for all, GR
I saw Tiger was playing I was going to watch but didn’t know where.
But I searched some clips on YouTube and the simulation reminds me alot of Mario golf haha

Haha Mario golf is quite fun.
It hasn't been good so far. Not sure I will give it another chance until I see some decent, competitive matches.

First i've heard of it. Doesn't sound appealing to me.
I'm not much of a golf guy, but I always thought golf was considered a fairly traditional sport, with its own set of traditions and etiquette? Maybe i'm just thinking of Happy Gilmore. But I was wondering, who was supposed to be the natural audience for this?
reply
I think they are hoping to attract a younger audience.

Hmm, sounds like another case of "our customers are getting old, we need to go after the young'uns with technology"
Maybe they should look at chess... seems to be drawing in younger folks through a bunch of social media personalities (Hikaru, Botez sisters, Gotham Chess) and lots of interpersonal drama

Definitely think there is an element of that. I also think it is meant to be a shorter more fast paced game where you get to see and hear more of the golfer’s interactions with each other.

I never knew Golf is also played like a professional league.
Is it team sport or solo golfers?
reply
This is a new league where golfers play as 4 person teams and represent a city.

Thanks. I'll keep an eye. We've a private golf club nearby that interests me, I go there sometimes for walks. It's always peaceful, unlike other other sports grounds.
