Howdy Cricket Lovers
The league stage in BBL 14 is about to finish with only a few matches remaining, the picture about the final four for the knockouts is largely clear but the 4th team is still undecided.
You can see in the table that three teams, Hurricanes, Thunder and Sixers, have already qualified.
The knockouts in BBL are played as following.
- So far, The Qualifier - Hurricanes vs Sixers, is fixed.
- The top 3, Thunder, then plays with the top 4th.
- All 5 teams are still in the race for the 4th spot.
Here's a scenario for remaining teams.
Stars
- If Stars win their last match against Hurricanes, they are through.
- If their match against Hurricanes, gets cancelled, they can still reach provided Heat lose their match aginst Renegades or it gets cancelled.
Heat
- They first need to win against Renegades and then see the Stars lose against Hurricanes.
Strikers, Renegades, Scorchers
- They all first have to win their remaining match (1 match remains for every team), but they also have to win by big margins as the fourth position will be tied in 8 points. The Net Run Rate (NRR) will then decide who is going to be through to finals.
- If they lose or match is cancelled, they are out.

Will the Hurricanes be trying to win tomorrow, since they're already in.
Yes. This is gentleman's game. I'm sure there won't be a deal with the stars. They'll come out hard as ever.
But Stars will come even harder because they now know their fate is in their hands. Also, imo stars have Maxi and stoinis two greats of modern T20 cricket. I'll be cheering for stars.
Ok, in most of our sports, teams in the Hurricanes' position would not play their starters.
This doesn't happen in Cricket. Most teams play as usual, even if a match is a dead rubber for them.
I didn’t want to try to figure out this mess so I sold everything that wasn’t sixers, hurricanes or thunder a couple days ago.
Exciting finish. Too bad the pool ended early. IPL coming soon though.
It's not finished yet. There will be four more matches after tomorrow's match to decide the winner.
Before IPL, we even have ICC Champions Trophy. That's a big tournament of top 8 international teams. It'll be played in Pakistan this time but India will be playing its matches in UAE.

Thunders are depleted side because of injuries. If Stars make it tomorrow, I think they'll gonna be the champs.
Surprising. They had a slow start to the season.
Yes, but they have the Big Show a.k.a. Glen Maxwell.
They are a great team on paper.
