Only if people are trusting app stores they shouldn't be. The closest comparison I can think of are linux repos. You can add arbitrary ones, but should verify you're adding good ones.

I suspect they'll mostly be used by companies that want to have more control over release cycles or want to ship release candidates in addition to stable software.
