It is, because there aren't only two genders, like there aren't only two sexes. There are many sexes: chromosomal, gonadal, genital, phenotycal, psychological, social, legal. And, of course, there are many, many, many combinations and grades, which makes every person who they are. Hurrah for biological variability and human diversity!
