Hi All,
Stakwork (remember from 2021) runs a bounty program where we have coding bounties out for delivery against a number of our open source repos.
We're keen to bring more devs onto the platform and have been publishing more bounties publically to twitter and nostr.
For example - here we have a simple iOS change that we're running as a Public Bounty - we put it out at $240 USD (I get this is overpaying but its marketing!) but it didn't get picked up.
I'm curious to learn what I'm getting wrong here?
Some theories I have but I'd love to just hear from people what their thoughts are?
  1. Task swtiching - I'm busy it's not worth diverting
  2. Too long to setup a new project dev enviornment not worth it for a one time boutny
  3. Don't want to sign up to a new service
  4. Not enough money
  5. Sounds like a scam
  6. I can't code.
  7. I had no idea this was there you have no reach, but now I know I want this bounty?
Thoughts?
Really just looking for feedback and some ideas on what devs would want to see to be interested in this?
I honestly thought just posting $100's of no KYC sats to the internet was the killer app, but I guess I'm wrong!

I also replied on nostr, but your post could use some more clarity and actually showing how to get those tasks done. Like I opened https://community.sphinx.chat/bounty/3328 and I have no idea how to review the code - where is the code to review?
Think about it as writing a tutorial with limited space.
Something like:

KYC Free sats for reviewing iOS code

Do you want to earn KYC free sats and are you an iOS developer?
  • click here xx to create account
  • click here xxx to pick up the tasks
  • for each task you will get xyz-xxx sats.
and after this section maybe you can provide more background, but that doesn't really matter...

Make it more accessible. Like in the above post - you should have put a REALLY EASY, no-brainer link, that explained exactly what the this whole thing is about.
Also, you didn't explain at all what Sphinx is. And you said, "remember for 2021" - well, I'd say probably 99% of people do NOT remember, and so you've lost them.
And here - it says "no featured bounties at this time": https://community.sphinx.chat/bounty/. That's even more prominent than the link to actually see the bounties. It's confusing.
In the "if you want to earn bounties" - do you really need to make things complicated by giving 5 separate steps? No. You need to make people excited about the opportunities, and eager to find out more.
Read the book "Don't Make Me Think". Constantly think of the principles in that book, when communicating.
Also, I'd suggest going to something like Fiverr. Find some iOS developers on there. Pay them some money, and ask them to review the materials you have, trying to induce people to try for the bounties. Ask them why THEY wouldn't want to try the bounties.
And you may also need to promote - like actively market - this. It may just not have enough visibility.

There's a lot of noise at the moment. Maybe it just didn't cut through.
Or NGU could be making us lazier?
