They just cancelled the big bids to make it more affordable again. But indeed, hashrate is not too high in such case, so i see it more as a cheeky bet with better odds than solomining.

the big size hashrate auctions displaced too many early miners

those auctions were removed, and the auction size is 21 TH/s now

this encourages new bidders to join with a low bar to enter
