Yes, you should do some exercise daily (at least 30 minutes or so of walking), but I'd say 95% of weight loss happens with what you eat, not how much you exercise.
The carnivore diet is extremely effective for weight loss, for people who have a lot to lose. For other people (like me, I didn't have weight to lose), it can improve your health dramatically.
If you don't want to do carnivore, then keto or low carb is decent as well.
