I suppose it is cause of the cost of the events that it s only on Youtube nowadays. This year, PipeLine which is The Event with Teahupoo (Tahiti) , it is the last event of season, has been sponsored by Lexus brand (it s the 1st time). The sponsor used to be a Surf brand (Billabong, Quicksilver...) And also this year, there is an event in Abu Dhabi (it s the 1st time) which is not a surf spot but a money spot... It is an artificial wave (created and helped by K.Slater)
