That’s interesting, I haven’t seen this series come up in any of the polls I am doing about science fictions series. I also didn’t see Robert Jordan‘s name on any of the sources I used for finding series. How recent is the series? Do you plan to read it to the end?

Oh yeah, I'll finish it. Even if it wasn't good, I'd probably finish it.
They were mostly written in the 90's.
It's an influential series. Game of Thrones was clearly inspired by this series and I suspect Harry Potter was as well.
The strongest influences I noticed are Tolkein and Herbert. The book begins with many similarities to the Lord of the Rings and from the third book on there are strong Dune like elements.

THAT is very interesting! I hadn’t heard of it before and my kids haven’t told me that they have read them. My kids cut their teeth on S-F because I read The Hobbit and LOTR to them when they were little and couldn’t read. They loved it! Then they started reading from my collection and still do.
