Thats great news for the 3rd world. Being able to just rollout plain "LN" and have both USDT and BTC available will help lots of people.

reply

No is not. We will never get rid of fiat.
Who is cheering for this crap is a fiat maxi not a bitcoiner.

Putting aside the question whether that's a good thing or not, i wonder from a practical point of view of things will look like. From what i remember, only entry and exit nodes need to care about the taproot asset part. In practice, will it only be these nodes that are involved with direct channels between them or will routing nodes be involved with increased routing opportunities/burden for them?

reply

All nodes can route those payments. Except for the entry and exit node its a regular ln payment.

reply

Yes, I understand that.

Just wondering what the reality will be: only direct channels between people interested in taproot assets, or will there be a lot of hops involved involving routing nodes? Let's first see how quickly the wallet ecosystem builds on this tech. This will likely give us part of the picture.

Not an important question. Was just wondering.
