Did I hear it from you guys or did I hear it on YouTube saying Fox wants to go to the Spurs? I think it was you guys.
This trade is great for the Spurs. Last year, they didn't have any point guards for Wemby, now they have too many point guards. CP3, Fox, and Castle; A vet, a top level point guard in his prime, and a great rookie. I think it's awesome for the Spurs and makes them much more dangerous, especially Wemby seem to be maturing much faster than expected. Fox will make the Spurs relevant and competitive, while CP3 can influence the young guys with proper work ethics and basketball wisdom. They will also have time to develop Castle and if he gets good as expected, there will be great things to come for the Spurs for many years. Also, don't forget, Spurs got Fox without having to trade any of their young core (Castle, Sochan, Vassell, not even Champagnie or Keldon Johnson). Pretty good deal for the Spurs if you ask me.
I don't think the Kings had a very good trade. They traded away their home grown star point guard, clutch player of the year, for Zach LaVine and some second round picks. Those 3 first round picks might look good on paper, but let's look at them in detail. The 2025 one from Charlotte is top 14 protected and Charlotte sucks, so Kings are probably not getting it. The 2027 one from San Antonio would probably suck anyways, because do you really think a team with Wemby and Fox and all those promising young talent will be a lottery team in 2027? As for the 2031 pick from Minny, it's so far down the road, I don't think it matters as of now. If I were to guess, my guess is that the TWolves will probably not suck in 2031, because Edwards is one hell of a player and he is still so young. So yea, Kings pretty much got back LaVine and a bunch of shitty first round picks and some second round picks. Not very good deal for trading away their star point guard. You could argue that LaVine is playing better than Fox this season, but I'm not sure if he will be a good fit with the Kings. I guess he can play guard with Monk with DeRozan, Keegan Murray, and Sabonis at the front. Let's see how it plays out, but I don't like what the Kings got for this trade.
As for the Bulls, it's good that they got their own first round pick back. They should have traded away LaVine much earlier and try to rebuild 1 or 2 seasons ago, instead of being mediocre several seasons in a row. Getting players like Collins, Jones, and Huerter who don't see much playing time on their old teams, Bulls might be able to play them and see their trade value increase to later trade them for picks or better pieces. Bulls should focus on rebuilding right now, and trading away LaVine makes sense. I just think that they could have done so earlier when LaVine was younger and had better trade value.
I don't think the Raptors will make a big move. I think they will focus on developing this young core and also see who they can draft from the lottery first. Maybe at most some small trades. But seeing how this trade season already went down, I could be completely wrong haha.
Yep. Spurs made it out like highway robbery in the deal IMO. Only had to trade away near end of the bench players, and probably not so important picks. But I applaud the Kings for allowing Fox to go where he wants instead of shopping him around for the best deal.
Yupp! It's pretty different from there.
I've shared about IPL auction #783691 on SN as well. The other Cricket leagues around the globe follow the same process.
