They able to take on his contract over there?? I thought they were pretty up against it in cap.
His cap hit is only 6M this year and they have 42M in cap space. Everyone always assumes the 49ers are up against the cap because they have a ton of high priced players but they are the best in the league at structuring contracts. Now they have a lot of work to do this offseason and they have to get the Purdy deal done as well but they can definitely handle Garrett. The question is could they extend him, which he probably wants. They can't keep everyone. Might be able too though cap should go up dramatically next year and Deebo and Trent will be rolling off in a couple years. They can't miss in the draft though.

I think Deebo leaves this off-season. I've heard rumours of them cutting him, it is wild speculation season, but hes not getting younger and hasn't played a full season in a few years now.
Garret and Bosa, now that's a horrible edge. Didn't realise you guys had such a good cap situation. Fair play to your front office.

Nah his contract makes it very hard to cut or trade him after this year. Next year more likely. They don't save much this year.
If Browns want Deebo and a second for Garrett. They can have him.

Got aiyuk to worry about aswell.
If I was Deebo and I was sent over in that trade id retire, browns are where players go to die. Nobody wants to go there. Cleveland fans deserve better.

I wish Aiyuk accepted that trade to Cleveland last year. Man Cooper plus a second which is pick 34 this year instead of paying Aiyuk 30M would have been amazing.
Just checked the numbers if 49ers cut or trade Deebo before June 1 they incur a 32M cap hit. After June 1 10M but then you can't get anything for him, might as well just have him play for the 15M cap hit he has this year. I don't see them cutting him.
I can even see them restructure this offseason pay him out some money in signing bonus lower this years cap hit and then trade or cut next year. 49ers love to give these guys signing bonus money to reduce cap hits. York has been amazing about spending his money that way to keep the team together.

That's a fairly logical way forward. Our capologist Rob Brzezinski is an actual cap wizard, he does things in much the same way.
