There's no way Greenland becomes a state, but being a territory is a much better deal anyway.
They could basically have full domestic autonomy and it's not like America was going to allow them to have diplomatic autonomy either way.
Chinas productive economy is stronger and if China usurps US hegemony over global protocols like banking the future may be brighter remaining relatively neutral of the power struggle that is already underway between China and the US.
