One thing they don’t mention is how Politico reporters have become a critical place for Member Offices and Committees to make statements. Welp now we know why!
For what it’s worth Politico Pro isn’t even that good I only have it because it’s the only option we have to track legislation in one place 🤨😒
Pretty dang entertaining to watch all these "orgs" justify their taking of stolen money. The conversation I want to see more of is why can't all these "things" just be funded directly from THE PEOPLE instead of the state stealing money and having faceless gov bodies shell it out after being paid off by lobbyists.
I've already had conversations with people about making "taxes" voluntary or at least being able to allocate funds like they do with donating to political campaigns. That to me is one of the obvious smoking guns in the tax forms... so they ask your permission for giving money to political parties in your tax form... but the rest is NOT voluntary. You know, its theft but recognizing that fact is an inconvenient truth.
I've been told, well I just don't think many things would be funded if it wasn't tax funded.... so then why is that? If that is true then you believe we need rulers to steal and make decisions for us... you just aren't being honest about it. You are lying to yourself about what democracy really is...
Its not what I expected to happen with the election of Trump but I think it could be a positive outcome. Its not his goal but it can be capitalized on by the plebs in spaces like these.

I mean in response to your if it elsewise wouldn’t be funded except for taxes there are plenty of examples of things that only came about due to taxes and made America the power it is today. A huge one is the internet was created by tax payer money and I think we can all agree it’s a huge deal. Nuclear power and fracking as well were tax payer funded projects that brought us enormous returns. Also semiconductors which power just about everything!
You also have the more common ones like the military which protects our national interests esp our trade routes. Due they might have bloat and need to be cut back but even if it was 1/10 of the size it wouldn’t be funded without taxes. Same idea with EMS and the other first responders. 100 years ago tariffs worked to fund this all but as the US got not just more powerful militarily but as the US became an industrial powerhouse the cost of things went up and the government had to create new ways to pay for it. The other option would be state owned enterprises and I don’t think anyone thinks that’s a good idea in the slightest! We don’t need to be like Europe!

I don't have time to go into it but I've read arguments for most of these coming about by pure market force and much faster and more efficiently than by state force. Your argument is persuasive because those things came about as they did... but that doesn't mean they could not have come about by any other method. I'm not saying I'd win that in a debate just making a point that its a high bar to meet.
Chaos Theory by Robert Murphy is a good book on this topic. Its a great summary of many anarcho capitalist theories and answers to hard questions like nation defense and innovation. I have a hard time believing the Internet would have only been created due to the state funding... but I get that point being persuasive. I didn't come out of the womb with these ideas. My arguments against freedom were slowly destroyed as I thought them through and read people offering up alts. It would be different though that is for sure.
I do appreciate the push back though. My argument isn't a utilitarian one but rather a rational and moral argument. I would feel much better if we as people were honest about what is happening and would stop pretending that taxes are some magically thing. Just realizing that a power is stealing from us is a good counterbalance to the state. Its one that is easier to see if you have a king taxing "his" subjects. Democracy clouds the matter making people believe that they are the government. I reject that as a lie.
