Somebody asked me how a couple about to get married could receive BTC as a wedding gift from their guests.
I did some research online and found this site: Hitchd, but they charge a fee for using their platform.
I'm sure BTC Pay Server could solve this issue for the couple, but what other ideas or options are available?
Imagine the couple wants to offer different gifting options to their guests. For example, guests could choose to gift $100, $150, $200, or any other amount.
I guess the easiest way would be to share a Lightning address or an on-chain address with the guests. But it would be great if the guests could send a message with the gift.
Thanks!
This is the way!

I'm giving a friend a satscard later this year.
Not what you're asking, but still

Yeah really.. but what if they share their lightning address people send their gift! And then they hand them an envelope that says..
"Check your wallet".. 🤔
That would be great too..

nostr seems like it could be useful here, both for facilitating the payment but also for leaving nice messages to the couple. getting a relay on relay.tools, require users to pay a minimum zap to use the relay. once they are on the relay, they can zap the wedding couple, leave notes, etc. could be done through a nostr client or just simply from relay.tools website link to the relay.

I went to a bitcoiner's wedding and they had a big plaque at the reception with a QR code for onchain donations.

looks like a excellent option

That's a cool idea, but I'm missing the part where you can attach a message to the gift.

If you encourage using a wallet that supports OP_RETURN that might work. Most folks will probably be sending from an exchange though unless they have another hot wallet and most exchanges don't allow OP_RETURNs.
Your best bet is a LNURL-PAY QR code. It allows the sender to attach a message. Most lightning wallets and exchanges support it. Depending on the gift size, you'll want to provide an onchain address too.
