What do you prefer? A tank, dps, healer? Do you prefer brute force or speed and agility? There's no constraints, what's your ideal load out?
Personally, I've always loved the idea of hurling fireballs and the arcane arts above anything else. I'd much rather dump it all into intelligence and let the chips fall wherever.
Depends on the setting. This may sound boring, but I've always been drawn to Paladin/Jedi like characters. Strength under constraint and tempered by wisdom, preferring the peaceful solution but not afraid to get physical
I like the way you described that. I also favor finding the non-violent solutions first.
I tend to prioritize intelligence/charisma, followed by stealth/agility/speed, and only strength as a last resort.
Int/cha and non violent solutions? Sounds like an enchanter. Why fight when you can charm or mesmerize.
For some reason, I never go that route, although I often think I will. I don't usually use active magic, but I like learning shields and other ability boosts.
Active magic is my jam. I want to nuke shit into the ground.
It doesn't matter if it's boring to me, as long as it's fun for you. 😁
I always play the same dude in every crpg and I never get bored 😂
My preference is definitely for the agile characters. Maybe I was influenced by the fighting games I played because of the combos
I've never gotten super into agility characters but occasionally I don't mind for a change of pace.
Interesting! I don't like long-range and very slow characters 😅
So you like a rogue or monk sort of situation?
You are completely right
I definitely don't mind the fast pace. Things like assassin's creed do that sort of character extremely well. In RPG situations though I almost always pick the caster.
Yeah! RPG games require more strategy than action and adventure games
I think invincibility and unlimited lives would be helpful.
I don't think you need both. 😁
What if you can't jump over a gap, you would be alive but trapped in the bottom.
Then I think you should pick infinite lives instead of invincibility 😉
Good idea, thanks. That's what I'm going with then.
The last game I played where I made such choices was Gears of War 4. My favorite game mode was cooperative Horde where escalating waves of NPCs would try to kill you (and your four mates) while you tried to survive.
I consistently picked engineer because there was always something to do and I enjoyed strategizing fortifications. IIRC I eventually skilled up scout too because it was also more strategic.
In general I'd prefer renaissance man build outs, where intelligence isn't cripplingly high, yet high, and most skills are above average.
Ahh so more of a support role? The unsung heros in most games. I don't mind the roll, but my middle child syndrome demands that I be more in the center of attention.
Sort of. I mostly just want to win and will take on lynchpin roles if the alternative is losing. I have a little more control over my reward function than is normal I'd guess, so I can make myself enjoy just about anything.
I have almost zero control over my reward function. I belive there was a study where they hooked electrodes to rats brains and let them hit a button to release dopamine into their brain and the rats would starve to death rather than quit hitting the button. I'm kind of like that.
A smart firemancer of course! And a magic photographer who can duplicate things by taking an image of them or teleport using an image.
Could be used in a novel or game I guess.
