pull down to refresh

If you’ve been in the scene for a little while, you probably remember @ODELL and Marty repeating Mandibles over and again in Rabbitholerecap or on twitter/nostr.
Well I finally got around to reading Mandibles and now I find myself dropping ”mandibles” in conversation when money/government gets mentioned.
There are a few great reviews of mandibles on SN, but just go ahead and grab a copy. A wonderful amount of fiction sprinkled with a good dose of reality. I don’t often read fiction but was instantly engrossed and will read again no doubt.
It was lighthearted, good humor and most importantly had many thoughtful lessons in how Fiat money works and can be manipulated.
Bullish on Bitcoin Touch some grass Soak up some sun Life is short
Fiction is hyper-important to orange-pill the masses. Most people will never learn the technicalities of bitcoin or the workings of fiat bullshittery.
That's why I started 21 Futures! https://21futures.com/
I actually think the Mandibles isn't a great novel, but it sure is worth reading! The very fact it makes us root for characters in a currency collapse is emotive and engaging.
I recommend 'A Lodging of Wayfaring Men' if you haven't read it. Neil Stephenson's work too. Plus, 'True Names' by Vernor Vinge.
And of course, 21 Futures!

Funnily enough since writing the post I’ve ordered 3 Paul Rosenberg books -wayfaring men being one. Thanks for the recommendations and will look at your project. How did you come to this realisation about Fiction being an excellent orange pill for the normies?

i am reading "The Jungle" by Upton Sinclair.
it's a classic novel about the daily struggles of a poor immigrant family thru extremely difficult meat-packing and industrial factory work. the book touches upon inflation a tiny bit (mostly thru hidden fees), but it's mostly narrating how the people are pushed to work harder and faster until they die.
author's commentary: "i wrote with tears and anguish, pouring into the pages all the pain that life had meant to me."
i listened to the Mandibles audio book a little bit - it accurately documents how life in the Western societies will unfold. one can watch it unfold, or one can start building resilient communities and refuse to let that story unfold.
