I think the current "feeling" of spending sats might have been similar to the original "feeling" of spending bitcoins in 2009 and shortly after.

There's a difference of eight orders of magnitude between sats and bitcoins, and I think the current price roughly reflects that.

It might be the case that in the future sats will be too valuable to just simply give away, and the new units, say millisats, will be the ones being given away for free.
