Nikolai Mushegian found dead in Puerto Rico at age 29, after bizarre tweets:
Speculation about peoples deaths is considered poor taste. Still, when founders in the crypto space are found dead the day after a tweet implying harassment by government intelligence agencies, I think it's relevant to be discussed.
Based on comments from people who don't know him, drugs and/or mental health may be an issue. This occured only a few days after a vote to allow custody of 1.6b of USDC on Coinbase.
As a Bitcoiner, I have my opinions about Ethereum (and Coinbase). As captured as Ethereum is, (and possibly has always been,) there have been developers on their side of the aisle who have fought the good fight (the guy arrested for giving a presentation on how to evade sanctions, the tornado cash dudes) and I have seen what happens when they upset the wrong people.
Just because Bitcoin may avoid the wrath of the SEC, there may be other nation state agencies that could resort to unconventional means of intimidation. Epstein wasn't a powerful man by pimping the underage to the wealthy and powerful. As the story goes, he ran a "blackmail as a service" operation employed by private and government intelligence agencies.
Is this what happened here? Or is it just another case of a high-stress lifestyle mixed with the wrong temperament for handling such a life?
It's important to remember (because it can be do easy to forget) that just because Bukele is on Tucker Carlson and your Uber driver is stacking on Robinhood, things can get real. There may be times where a few people start getting strange visits from intimidating people. Or maybe even go missing. It would take a while before we are sure the crackdown has begun, but it could get real very fast.
To all who have made a contribution in the fight against dystopia, I thank you for your service.
To those that may join the front,
