fwiw, zap receipts on nostr are also trusted, see Appendix E in NIP-57:
The zap receipt MAY contain a preimage tag to match against the payment hash of the bolt11 invoice. This isn't really a payment proof, there is no real way to prove that the invoice is real or has been paid. You are trusting the author of the zap receipt for the legitimacy of the payment.
I think this is a pretty big flaw but not many seem to care about it, are unaware or there's simply no way to fix it in a decentralized manner.

yeah I remember once there were people creating fake zaps of billions, I don't know how it was fixed or if it was at all because I never saw it again, I didn't look deep into it
I know some guy did create BCH zapping but I guess it's easier if it's already public and non-private
