yeah I remember once there were people creating fake zaps of billions, I don't know how it was fixed or if it was at all because I never saw it again, I didn't look deep into it

I know some guy did create BCH zapping but I guess it's easier if it's already public and non-private

fwiw, zap receipts on nostr are also trusted, see [Appendix E in NIP-57](https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips/blob/master/57.md#appendix-e-zap-receipt-event):

> The `zap receipt` MAY contain a `preimage` tag to match against the payment hash of the bolt11 invoice. This isn't really a payment proof, there is no real way to prove that the invoice is real or has been paid. **You are trusting the author of the `zap receipt` for the legitimacy of the payment.**

I think this is a pretty big flaw but not many seem to care about it, are unaware or there's simply no way to fix it in a decentralized manner.
