There are probably many methods to achieve lucid dreaming, but I am only aware of keeping a dream journal and doing reality checks:
A Reality Check is a method of deducing whether one is in a dream or in real life. It usually involves an observation of some sort of sensory observation, usually visual. Most induced lucid dreams involve a reality check of some sort. A dream sign is a form of reality check that is more or less unique to the specific dreamer.
In the movie Inception, they use a spinner as an example. If it doesn't stop spinning, you're in a dream.
My reality check is trying to breath through my nose while holding it shut. I like this check because all I need for it is my body.
What's yours?
Mine is whistling! Since my dreams have no sound, if I don't hear my whistle it's because I'm dreaming.

Trying to read. In dreams, you cannot read texts properly or the text changes every time. I've only experienced a few dreams where I was confused about whether I was dreaming or in reality.

I've heard that if you ask someone the time in a dream, the dream goes wrong. So that will be my reality check. One thing I do is try to run, always in my dreams I can never run naturally, it seems like the dream doesn't process correctly.

I don't actually have one. I don't know I'm dreaming until I wake up.

It's not consciously intentional but suffering. It feels real.

Do you not suffer in dreams? Or do you mean stabbing yourself and not feeling pain would be your reality check? lol

I've experienced it a lot of times. It's not like real life pain, but you do feel something similar. Once, someone kicked me on the downside (in my dream), and I literally jumped up from my bed and screamed at midnight it was painful. Another time, I dreamed I accidentally stabbed my own left eye (dreams are weird), and I felt a very sharp pain. Once, I broke my toe in my dream, and it was painful. I thought it was normal and everyone felt it until my frns told me it's not.

Oh, now that you mention it, I definitely remember waking up once and making sure I still had all my limbs. There was also some memory of pain.

Oh I don't remember my dreams. I don't lucid dream. I mostly meant that suffering is my reality check ... in reality.

Do you not remember any dream in which you suffered? 🧐
