A question from a layman. You've already drawn it several times... do you do any sketches before drawing it?

No, I don't. I never sketch. Only with portraits do I sketch sometimes. I don't know why. I think I take a lot of satisfaction from immediately inking.
But I'm not far off from being a lay person myself. I only picked up drawing about a year ago after a 20 year hiatus, so there's a lot I have to learn (including sketching perhaps, but, no forget it, I dislike it too much).

Drawing without a sketch is not for everyone. I believe you can mentally visualize it naturally. Thank you for clarifying my doubt.

Also, it has to do with how many mistakes are you willing to look at and record in your sketchbook (which is dependent on the level of your observation). Immediately inking will show where you're at, unable to erase the bad lines.
