I agree. I think there's a lot of things that people just don't use because they only use the big tech companies.

For example, few people know that you can run your own calendar and contacts server using CalDAV and CardDAV and sync it on your phone with DAVx5. No need for big tech to know everything about your contacts and events. On Desktop you can use Thunderbird for example to keep your contacts and calendar in sync there as well.
