I don't get the obsession with this guy. I have watched interviews with him and he's never said anything interesting. Can someone point me to a clip that could change my mind?

I think it's mostly that he gets shit done, time and time again, visibly, in world where most people just talk, complain, and rent seek. And despite doing hard shit, he seems to not take himself very seriously.
That's at least what I appreciate about him. I wouldn't say I'm obsessed with him. I find that as silly as hating him.

Only a handful of people are able to create 1 disruptive company in the world during their lives, and that is a lot. Let say: Steve Jobs with Apple, Bezos with Amazon, the guys of Google etc.
Elon, not only created 1 disruptive but 5:
Space X: The first private company to send rockets and people to space making profitable an industry that was taking tons of tax payer money.
Star Link: The creation of Space X lead to Star Link, disrupting the closed so established internet companies by taking internet anyware in the world without having to through cable across the earth like we are in the XIX century. This tech still needs to evolve.
Tesla: Doesn't need presentation. The car industry also so established, a market imposible to penetrate...bye. And people still think Tesla is a car company. Tesla is one of the most complex companies in the world. It will need its own thread, but has the robotics, autonomous driving, the solar section, energy storage etc. Not to mention the potential with insurance, Optimus and even creates its own processors.
Neuralink: Nothing, they just put a monkey to play pong with his mind. Opening the door to make tetraplegic people able to interact with the world again.
The Boring Company: Trying to fix the problem of traffic in the cities, they reduced the budget of creating tunnels for cars to something realistic and affordable. Still needs to evolve and grow but it has potential.
I someone doesn't get Elon's unique mind, is because they fell in the media FUD and attacks. Someone able to disrupt 5 and more industries at the same time only born once in hundreds of years.. We need to look at the work and not at the personality presented on the news.
