Is Waco not enough?
I'm not a conservative, so it's probably different than my beef with them: ATF should be a chain store, rather than a government agency.
The DOD got way more innocent bodies on its hands than the ATF. Plus we never hear the good things ATF does I know it can’t be all bad

In general conservatives are all over the place with their positions on law enforcement and the military. There isn't much logic. They don't like the ATF but before Trump dug the FBI. I'd say plenty liked the ATF. Most conservatives I have run across don't have an issue with Waco either. Especially not at the time it happened.
Ruby Ridge is the event that more conservatives have issues with. A lot of conservatives are as programmed as democrats. The programming is just different. I was a republican in my youth and what really opened my eyes was how they lied about Ron Paul. Once I started checking out what he actually believed vs what I was told it exposed the lying and hypocrisy of the conservative movement.
When I started looking at police violence vs civilian populations I started to see the problem there too. While race is always a factor the bigger factor is poverty and the special treatment / positition police hold. The incentives lead to abuse of power. The monopoly also means we get poor service vs what we'd get with a market solution.
To me both political movements in the US have serious logical holes in their positions on topics. You can see it in Trump as well of course.

I'll grant that conservatives loving DoD, while hating ATF, is very interesting, but I doubt there's anything done by the ATF that I'd approve of.
