There was a great interview between Jordan Peterson and someone else whose name I forgot, where they were trying to get at this question, "How did they trick the intelligentsia to go along with this nonsense?"

And ultimately they kinda traced it to a form of toxic empathy pervading university administrators, in which mental harms were treated as on par with physical harms, which is itself an end result of post modernist philosophy that no objective truth can be known...

And of course me being an economist I like to trace things to their monetary incentives (money of course just being a proxy for resources)... and I wonder if it all started with Obama's Title IX shenanigans which threatened to withhold funding from universities who didn't protect minority groups from "harassment"
